There is nothing I enjoy more than hiking during the summer. I love walking through the woods with someone or in my own thoughts. The earthy smell and bird chirping is relaxing and many hiking trails lead to an amazing view or building. I try and hike once or twice a week during the summer and it never gets old. I live in Connecticut so these hiking trails really keep my hiking addiction alive.
Mattabesett Blue Trail
This trail is located in Meriden, Connecticut and has amazing views. I love harder terrain such as steep hills and rocky turf, so this trail really speaks to me. It's a 9.1 mile trail and includes multiple options to chose from as far as trail options go. This hike is a pretty good workout, and there a few peaks that show some amazing views.
Talcott Mountain State Park
This park contains a 1.2 mile hike that leads to a beautiful historic building called the Heublein Tower. It has a pretty view and the nature along this trail is awesome. You might even see a bear, which is pretty cool if you act accordingly. This is a moderate trail but has a steep incline at the beginning.
This is a 5.4 mile trail near Holyoke, Massachusetts. It's a nice steady hike and has a great area for a quick picnic at the beginning. I really enjoy the stone lookout tower in the middle of the trail and its simplicity. After a nice hike, it's relaxing to sit in the center of it and talk to a friend.
